Are you experiencing some mild to severe tooth pain? Looking for some ways to relieve that pain at home? Look no further! We have put together four ways to relieve your tooth pain with common household ingredients.
Clove Oil
Clove oil has a natural nerve numbing ingredient that helps to relieve pain. When applying clove oil to the affected area, put 2 drops on a cotton ball and hold to the area for at least 30 seconds. Be careful: pouring the oil on the aching area can worsen the pain, especially if there is sensitive gum tissue. Clove oil is commonly used by oral surgeons to relieve pain caused by dry socket after wisdom teeth extraction.
Ginger-Cayenne Paste
Combine equal parts of ginger and cayenne with enough water to form a paste. (Warning: don’t get these in your eyes!) Saturate a cotton ball and place on the area until the pain subsides or you can’t handle the heat anymore! Both ginger and cayenne have a natural nerve-numbing ingredient, so if the combination is too hot to handle, create a paste with just one or the other.
Salt Water
Salt water is a common home remedy when dealing with mouth pain and infections. A salt water solution cleans the affected area as well as reduces swelling. When using, swish the solution around your mouth for 30 seconds and then spit. Do not swallow. Repeat as needed.
Tea
Peppermint tea also contains a natural numbing ingredient that can help aid teeth pain. Let the tea bag steep in the hot water for about 15 minutes. Let the tea cool and then swish the tea around in your mouth. You can either swallow the tea or spit it out, whichever you prefer. Continue this process until the area is numb.
