Busy people don’t always have time to brush while out and about. You may have lunch with friends or colleagues, or a snack to hold you until a later dinner. In general, we tend to eat and drink more than just three times a day. However, indulging in that piece of cake for your coworker’s birthday doesn’t have to mean forgetting dental hygiene. Here are five easy ways you can keep your teeth clean and breath fresh while you’re out on the go.
1.Travel Size – After a large lunch, a good brush is in order. Buying a travel-sized toothbrush, toothpaste, mouthwash, and floss to carry with you or keep at your desk. That way you can take a few minutes to properly brush your teeth and freshen your break before your 1:30 meeting.
2. Pocket Pick – The American Dental Association recommends flossing between your teeth twice a day. Another great way to dislodge any pesky salad leaves or meat chunks is to use a travel-sized combo toothpick and floss. This duo is great for not only removing particles and cleaning the spaces in between your teeth.
3. Wisps – The Wisp is a small brush with a liquid-filled bead inside that releases a burst of cleaning freshness as you brush. You don’t need any water to use a Wisp, which makes it pretty handy when you don’t have any water or don’t trust the water. Another cool feature is that you also don’t have to apply toothpaste; the cleaning solution stored in the bead will do the job.
4. Sugar-free gum – An easy way to keep your teeth clean is to chew sugar-free gum after meals. Sugar-free gum can increase saliva production in your mouth, which sweeps food particles out of your mouth. Because it’s sugar-free, the gum can satisfy your sweet tooth while helping you avoid sugary snacks.
5. Water – You won’t always have a toothbrush or pocket pick on hand, so if nothing else, it’s a good idea to rinse your mouth with water. Swish as though you are using mouthwash to dislodge any stubborn food particles.
These ideas work well while you’re out, but of course, you must still brush for two minutes twice a day. For the best dental hygiene, visit your Dental Care Center team twice per year for a professional cleaning. Contact us to schedule an appointment.
